Using internal Court documents, Professor Michael Klarman will reconstruct the Justices' internal deliberations in Brown v. Board of Education, seeking to show that the case was genuinely difficult for the Court, why this was so, and what general lessons regarding judicial decision-making we might draw from this episode. Along the way, he will offer some anecdotes to convey the colorful personalities of this remarkable set of Justices.
