On the Issues: Keisha Krumm and Jennifer O'Hear

It calls itself “a community organization with a history of making significant change in southeastern Wisconsin.” Common Ground has been working on a range of issues in the Milwaukee area for years, but its profile rose considerably during the debate over a new downtown arena. The organization, which is supported by dozens of area churches, challenged the plan to use public money for the new facility, and ultimately opposed the arena deal because the city didn’t include $80 million to improve playgrounds and school athletic facilities. It also used the arena battle as leverage to help address the foreclosure crisis in Milwaukee. Now, the organization says it plans to be active in Milwaukee’s spring elections. We’ll learn more about Common Ground, its mission, and its future plans when two of the organization’s leaders, Keisha Krumm and Jennifer O’Hear, visit Eckstein Hall.
