Description
Jay Hein is currently CEO of the Foundation for American Renewal, a public charity aimed at strengthening the nation's nonprofit sector and advancing innovative solutions to pressing social needs. He is also a senior fellow at the Sagamore Institute, an international policy think tank, and distinguished fellow at Baylor University where he provides research and counsel on public-private sector strategies to address such challenges as prisoner re-entry, the high school dropout crisis and international health challenges.
During his tenure as an advisor to President Bush, he helped lead several presidential initiatives and provided oversight over a dozen federal agencies responsible for growing government partnerships with faith-based and grassroots nonprofit organizations. Hein left his position at the White House just weeks ago. Prior to his White House role, Hein served as senior fellow at the Hudson Institute and a welfare policy advisor for former Wisconsin Governor Tommy Thompson. In these two roles, he helped to design and implement Wisconsin's landmark welfare reform program.
