Description
Young, enthusiastic, and optimistic, Dr. Driver is the new Superintendent of the state’s largest school district. She came to MPS two years ago to become the district’s first Chief Innovation Officer. She became interim Superintendent when Dr. Gregory Thornton announced he was leaving for Baltimore, and she was named permanent Superintendent this past fall. In her new role, Driver must tackle a number of challenges, including improving student graduation rates and test scores, competing for students with voucher and charter schools, and changing public perceptions about the district. But in a recent interview, she seemed undaunted, even eager, calling this an “exciting time for education” in Milwaukee.
