Description
CHIEF JUDGE MAXINE WHITE, FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT OF WISCONSIN
Judge White became chief judge in August, and is responsible for the administration of judicial business in the Milwaukee County Circuit Court. During her visit to the Law School, Judge White will offer a “view from the bench.” In addition to discussing her vision and goals as the new chief judge, Judge White will offer her perspective on the community’s recent surge in violent crime. What are she and other judges seeing in their courtrooms? What kinds of factors are judges weighing in sentencing? What’s at the root of the crime problem, and what can be done to address it? Judge White received her law degree from Marquette University Law School. She was appointed to the bench in 1992 and has since been elected four times. Prior to becoming a judge, Judge White served as an assistant United States attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
